The Rio Branco City Council suspended the ordinary session this Tuesday (4) and will resume work on Wednesday (5). The suspension was due to the lack of consensus of the house in the composition of parliamentary commissions.
The question under discussion is the formation of two parliamentary blocks: one composed of PT and MDB and another by PL and União Brasil. According to the chairman of the Board of Directors, Joabe Lira, the distribution of the committees must follow the criterion of proportionality, and the legal advice of the House is in charge of issuing an opinion that clarifies how each block will be represented in the composition of the commissions.
Thus, the vote for the definition of the commissions should take place on Wednesday. A city representative participated in the discussions in the plenary to try to advance in the debate. With the lack of consensus, the suspension of the session became inevitable.
The 2025 legislative work began on Tuesday, with the first ordinary session of the year in the House. In this new legislature, the number of chairs increased from 17 to 21.
