The Votuporanga-SP General Investigations Police Station (DIG) arrested in the act, two men accused of applying scams passing by free market delivery. The investigation, which began about fifteen days ago, revealed a criminal scheme that mainly victimized elderly in the region. Modus Operandi consisted of approaching victims in their homes, where one of the suspects presented himself as a delivery man with the free market or other delivery service.
The coup reported that there was an order on behalf of the victim, including a personalized label with his data. When the person claimed to have made no request, the false delivery was insisted that it was a “gift” or “treat” at no cost. To finalize the delivery, requested a selfie from the victim using his own phone from the alleged delivery man, claiming to be necessary to confirm the receipt.
After opening the package, which usually contained low value items such as mugs or household items, the victims later found that fraudulent bank transactions had been made in their mercantile bank accounts, where they received pensions and benefits. The blows included unauthorized loans and improper transfers. The arrest occurred after the investigators identified a silver S-10 pickup truck used in the blows.
The suspects had made victims in Fernandópolis-SP the same day. With the support of the Police Intelligence Center (CIP) of the São José do Rio Preto Section, the police intercepted the vehicle on a Vicinal Highway of Neves Paulista. The 38-year-old driver of the vehicle, resident in Mirassol-SP, was captured with several cell phones, free market (new and used) packaging and labels with potential victims.
The second suspect, 24, was arrested at his residence in Neves Paulista, where his cell phone was seized. One of the victims made in Fernandópolis, was physically coerced to perform facial recognition during a false delivery. As a result, the suspects were charged in the act by extortion. After the procedures in the Votuporanga DIG, the detainees were sent to the police duty, where they will remain available to the court.
