Unprecedented destructive milestone of a Russian drone throughout the war

Russia has begun to use its Orion attack drones in the Black Sea region to a measure to try to counteract the growing threat of Ukrainian naval drones. The Russian fleet has used these drones that, apparently, were thrown from a war ship, something that had not previously registered in the conflict, as reported by the media .

This has been documented by the Russian Ministry of Defense in a report entitled Evaluation of the Russian offensive campaignpublished by the Institute for the Study of War, as the media Interesting Engineering has disseminated. According to the statements made by Russian sources in the report, “it can be the first documented case of Russian forces that use a naval asset to deploy drones capable of destroying Ukrainian naval drones.”

Ukraine had previously deployed his Naval Magura V5 drones in the Black Sea region to attack Russian assets. On December 31, 2024, missiles launched from the unmanned surface ship (USV) Magura V5 knocked down a Russian MI-8 helicopter.

Kamikaze’s drones of kyiv also damaged several warships and other Moscow military facilities in the Black Sea region. It should be noted that Ukraine does not have its own naval fleet and depends on these naval drones to challenge Russia in the sea.

For a long time, Kamikaze unmanned ships had wreaked havoc on Moscow’s forces, but it seems that they finally have an answer. The Orion drone, which was supposedly used to destroy the Magura V5 Ukrainian, is an average altitude drone and great autonomy (Male) developed by Kronshtadt in Russia.

The non -manned apparatus is capable of carrying out intelligence, surveillance and recognition (ISR) missions and can also carry out missile attacks. The Orion drone has been used by the Russian forces since 2019 and there are multiple variants of it. The variant released from a ship, which was used to carry out the attack against the Ukrainian Naval drone, is also possibly a new model.

According to a report from EuroMaidan Pressthe Orion has a flight autonomy of up to 30 hours and can transport useful loads of up to 250 kilograms, including X-UAV missiles (TKB-1030). This is probably the missile that Orion used to tear down the naval non -manned plane owned by kyiv’s forces.
