(Folhapress) – A fire attack at a Örebro school in the center of Sweden and about 200 km west of the capital, Stockholm, left “about ten dead” on Tuesday (4), local police.

Professor Maria Pegado, 54, said someone opened the door of her classroom right after the break for lunch and shouted for everyone to leave. “I took all my 15 students to the hallway and we started running,” she told Reuters by phone.
As she left the building, she said she heard two shots. “I saw people dragging injured out, first one, then another. I realized it was very serious. ”
Police did not want to give details about the profile or age of the injured, but said the shooter is a man who possibly acted alone. “As for saying something more about the aggressor, it’s still too early.

The causes of the crime have not yet been clarified, but police said they have not seen, so far, “terrorist motivation.” According to the STV public broadcaster, the suspect is a 35 -year -old man whose residence is being surrounded by police. Shortly after the shots, school images show several cars and police officers with ambulances and emergency vehicles.

Sweden has faced a wave of shootings due to the presence of gangs in the country, but attacks on schools are rare. In recent years, however, some type incidents have occurred in educational institutions.
In March 2022, for example, an 18 -year -old student stabbed and killed two teachers at a high school in the city of Malmö in the south. Two months earlier, a 16 -year -old was arrested after injuring another student and a teacher with a knife at a school in the small town of Kristanstad.
Ten people were killed in seven incidents in schools from 2010 to 2022, according to the Swedish National Crime Prevention Council.
