President Javier Milei ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs to ensure official procedures to withdraw from the WHO.

Argentina will step out of the World Health Organization (WHO), especially for fundamental disagreement with the WHO procedure during the Covid-19 pandemic including Lockdows. This was announced on Wednesday by a spokesman for the office of Argentine President Manuel Adorni, TASR reports, according to the reports of Reuters and AFP agencies.

A spokesman told reporters that Argentina “will not allow any international body to interfere with his sovereignty” and not at all the health of his residents. President Javier Milei ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs Gerard Werthein to ensure official practices to withdraw from the organization.

After withdrawal from WHO Argentina expects more flexible to respond to individual situations

According to Adorni, this decision will not affect the quality of the healthcare provided, as Argentina did not receive any money from the WHO. On the contrary, Argentina expects to respond to individual situations without membership of the WHO.

The United States also spoke from the WHO in January after the new President Donald Trump.

Milei promised a state budget without a deficit after the end of 2023. According to AFP, his drastic austerity measures have been below the poverty line millions of people. Argentina, however, in 2024 recorded its largest trade surplus in history.

Finally, the spokesman of the President said that in addition to withdrawing from WHO Argentina, he was also exploring the possibilities of withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement.
