Family allowance is one of the main social benefits attributed in Portugal to support families with children and young people in charge. However, in addition to the base value, there is a specific increase for some situations: the increase in the amount of family allowance for children and young people. This additional support is intended for numerous, monoparental and pregnant families who meet certain criteria, functioning as a complement to reinforce the family budget.
HOW THE GEAR WORKS
According to, this increase applies to three distinct installments: family allowance for children and young people, prenatal family allowance and disability bonus.
The majoration can be attributed in two specific cases:
- Families with two or more children -This additional support is intended for children until 36 months that belong to a family aggregate where they exist two or more family allowance holders for children and young people.
- Monoparental families – In the case of aggregates composed of Only one adultthe values of family benefits are added:
- 50% In the amount of installments for all children and young people positioned in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level of family allowance, including disability bonus.
- 50% in the value of installments for children and young people positioned in the 4th level, but only until you complete 72 months of age.
- 35% in the value of prenatal allowance.
Who is entitled to receive?
The majoration applies to two specific groups:
- Children up to 36 months inserted in household aggregates where there is two or more family allowance holders.
- Children and young people living Only with an adult (monoparm aggregate). In the case of 4th levelthis increase only applies to the 72 months.
Prenatal allowance
Additional support also covers pregnant women from the 13th week of gestation and live alone or only with minor children.
An essential reinforcement for many families
The increase in family allowance represents a reinforcement measure that aims to financially support numerous and single -padded families, recognizing the added challenges that these aggregates face.
With this complement, the goal is to mitigate inequalities and promote greater equity in access to essential resources for the well-being of children and youth.
