BRASILIA (Reuters)-Finance Minister Fernando Haddad presented on Wednesday to the mayor, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), a diagnosis of the Brazilian economy in which he says the government is building a “true fiscal balance” also listing 25 government priorities to 2025 and 2026 in the economic area.

The presentation, distributed by the Ministry of Finance, points out that the country has been growing above forecasts, with unemployment at the lowest level in history, high in investments and poverty reduction.

Among the priorities listed by Haddad, who met with Motta on Wednesday, are initiatives already proposed by the government and who are being processed in the Legislature, such as the limitation of supersalaries in the public service, the reform of the military pension and the regulation of the contimable tax debtor.

The list also brings measures in the elaboration phase by the government, such as the continuity of tax reform regulation, competitive rules adjustments on “big techs” and income tax reform.

Regarding IR, the presentation points out that the reform will bring exemption to those who earn up to R $ 5,000, as promised by the government, and a minimum tax on very high income taxpayers “so that Brazilians in the top of the distributive pyramid pass to contribute to your fair portion ”.
