About 40% of cancer cases could be prevented avoiding risk factors, usually associated with behavior and food. The information is from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).
Each year, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), 20 million new cases of cancer worldwide are recorded and 9.7 million result in deaths.
And projections are not optimistic, NCI estimates that by 2040 the number of new cancer cases per year will increase to 29.9 million and 15.3 million deaths. And February is an opportunity to spread information on disease prevention and control, since it brings several dates with you: day 4 is World Cancer Day; Day 05 is National Mammography Day; And on the 15th is World Childhood Cancer Day.
