A total of 15 medical facilities have been forgiven debts totaling EUR 93 million in the past period, originally incurred by the Social Insurance Agency (SP). It was a penalty that was tied to premiums. This was confirmed for TASR by the Ministry of Health (MZ) SR.
The debt forgiveness agreements were concluded with healthcare facilities, the company Debitum, which is a joint -stock company with 100 % state participation, and its only shareholder is the Ministry of Health. The company deals with the concept of debt relief of healthcare facilities in relation to SP. As spokesman of SP Martin contours confirmed for TASR, the state -owned company bought the claims from it in 2024, not the same amount as the cash volume of these receivables. The amount of remuneration was the result of interdepartmental negotiations.
“The agreements relate to the unpaid receivables on the penalty related to the premiums, which were on the year 30 June 2022 after the due date, prescribed by the original creditor – the Social Insurance Agency,” stated MZ.
The agreements published in the central register of contracts show that The largest debt was forgiven by the University Hospital Bratislava, in the amount of almost 27 million euros. Louis Pasteur University Hospital Košice was forgiven more than 13.1 million euros and Martin (UNM) University Hospital (UNM) almost 10.7 million euros. As she stated for TASR in her opinion, it positively perceives every debt forgiveness. “The debt was created by non -reimbursing/delayed reimbursement of contributions to the Social Insurance Agency for the employer,” It specified UNM, adding that the debt forgiveness was also reduced by the hospital’s indebtedness and the accounting point of view also influenced the improvement of the economic result for 2024.
Among the medical facilities they were Fentiles forgiven, for example, the Faculty Hospital with Polyclinic FD Roosevelta Banská Bystrica, National Institute of Children’s Diseases, National Transfusion Service, Central Military Hospital SNP Ružomberok – Faculty Hospitalaa more. Contour for TASR confirmed that state hospitals are the largest debtors against the SP. “The status of receivables of the Social Insurance Agency on insurance against the monitored healthcare facilities was € 477 million at 31 December 2024,” added.
