Marcelo had been without a club since the termination of a contract with Fluminense, made official on December 2 last year. The trigger for the departure of Tricolor Carioca was a public disagreement with coach Mano Menezes, on the edge of the lawn. At the time, the player complained that the coach would be wanting to do average with the fans, by touching his arm on the edge of the lawn.>
