Argentine Rodolfo Lohrmann, aka The Russianbrain of the collective escape that occurred in a Portuguese prison in September, has been arrested this Thursday in Alicante (349,000 inhabitants) by agents of the National Police with another of the evaded prisoners, the British Mark Cameron Roscaleer. They were the last inmates who were still released from the five who managed to escape from the Vale Penitentiary Center of Judeus, about 70 kilometers from Lisbon, after the successive arrests of the Portuguese Fabio Loureiro in Tangier (Morocco) and Fernando Ribeiro Ferreira in Trâs-os-os-os-os -Montes (northern Portugal), and Georgian Shergili Farjian in Padua (Italy). The Russian, whom in his country implies in kidnappings, served in a 18 -year Portugal for criminal association, theft, falsification and money laundering. Roscaleer was imprisoned for an armed robbery.
The arrest of both has occurred around 12.30 on Thursday on the Ocaña road, a road that runs an area west of the Alicante capital with numerous industrial estates. The police have intercepted the black vehicle of the Porsche march in which both were traveling in the midst of a large deployment of agents due to the danger of both. In fact, the police have had to face the “resistance and aggressiveness” of both evaded, especially from Roscaleer, 39, who was traveling as a co -pilot. After the arrest of the two fugitives, it has been necessary for an ambulance to move later to the place to serve the bruises, the same sources point out.
Stop Lohrmann was the biggest challenge facing the Portuguese judicial police, given his ability to camouflage himself behind multiple identities and to move around the world. The bands they have directed have committed kidnappings, extortion and crimes in more than a dozen countries in America and Europe. Hence, it is surprising that the Russian sought refuge within the Iberian Peninsula, taking advantage of the circles of criminal organizations that have been able to give some support. Portuguese sources pointed to this newspaper that the Spanish police had received a chivatazo about the possible presence of the two prisoners on the Costa Blanca, where their environment had infrastructure to hide them.
The Spanish Police already, through messages on the social network X (formerly Twitter), at the request of the Lisbon authorities before the suspicion that they may have entered Spain after the flight. As police sources detailed then, then there was no record that they had crossed the border, although they admit that it was “a very likely escape place” since both countries share a wide earthly limit. Then, the Portuguese police sent to their Spanish colleagues information about two vehicles that could be moving. Specifically, one of the Mercedes Benz brand and another, a Volvo. Finally it has been another car in which they have been intercepted.
Lohrmann is claimed by the Argentine authorities to try to clarify the whereabouts of Cristian Schaerer, a 21 -year -old student who was last seen in 2023, near his home, in the Argentine city of Corrientes, before being kidnapped by the organization of the Russian. Although the family paid a rescue of $ 277,000 (about 267,000 euros to the current change), either alive or dead.

The, was a hard blow to the self -esteem of the country’s prison system, but the successive arrests of the escapees contributed to part of the bad image of that time. Some of the arrests were carried out in collaboration with police from other countries and, in the case of Italian arrest, helped the blow that the country’s agents surprised the Georgian Shergili Farjiani almost by chance.
The Spanish Police plans to report the details of the operation at a press conference in Madrid this Friday in which they will participate, in addition to the Director General of the Police, Francisco Pardo, his Portuguese counterpart, Luis Neves; the General Commissioner of Judicial Police, Luis Fernando Pascual; and responsible for the operation that has led to the arrest of the two fugitives.
