The right wing of a Japan Airlines jet reached the tail of a Delta Air Lines plane while the aircraft were taxing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Wednesday, the Aviation Federal Administration said.
FAA suspended some flights to the airport as a result of the incident that occurred around 3:40 pm (Brasília time). The agency said it will investigate the incident.
Delta’s Boeing 737-800, with 142 passengers, was destined for Puerto Vallarta and was waiting for the defrost when he was hit by the Japan Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamline after landing Tokyo. Delta said there were no reports of injured and would transfer passengers to another plane.
Delta said she will work with FAA and other entities to investigate the case.
Japan Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
