The Russian government first confirmed that it is involved in Ukraine conversations with US authorities.
“In fact, there are contacts between individual departments and they recently intensified,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday (5). He refused to give more details on the subject.
Peskov’s comments were made after US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the country is involved in “constructive” conversations with Russia and Urania.
“We are having very good conversations, very constructive conversations about Ukraine,” said Trump during one, Benjamin Netanyahu.
The US president added that discussions with both Russian and Ukrainian leaders are underway.
According to Kremlin, Moscow remains open to dialogue, but sees in Ukraine. Peskov emphasized that any significant negotiations should be started by Kiev, given the ongoing military operations.
Zelensky said on Tuesday (4) in an interview with the Piers Morgan program on YouTube, which, Vladimir Putin, if this is the only option.
“If this is the only option to bring peace to the citizens of Ukraine and not lose more people, (then) we will definitely opt for this option,” said Zelensky.
