US President Donald Trump signed a decree on Wednesday to exclude transrodic girls and women from women’s sports at American schools. A decree called “keep men outside women’s sports” would actually touch only a few individuals. TASR writes about it based on AP and Reuters reports.
Trump’s goal is to ensure compliance with the Title IX law, which prohibits any discrimination in the US on the basis of gender in schools subsidized by the federal authorities, in accordance with the opinion of his administration, which defines sex as something that has been allocated to every person at birth.
“With this decree, the war against women’s sport has ended,” Trump said in the ceremonial signing of the decree. “My administration will not see how men beat and bully athletes,” he added.
Threat of stopping financial assistance
Any school that enables transrodic women or girls to compete in sports competitions is at risk of stopping federal financial assistance.
In fact, the decree would only affect a small number of sportswoman. According to the National University Sports Association (NCAA) in December, they registered less than ten transrodic contestants among more than 520,000 athletes at more than 1,100 member schools.
According to AP, Trump also calls on private sports organizations to meet in the White House so that he can personally listen to “stories of sportsmen who have suffered lifelong harm to health that have been silenced and forced to shower with men and compete with men in sports grounds”.
