The councilman presented a bill so that the population can grant permission or not to parade them.
Today, the city is the one who defines which public roads can be used by revelers.
Runned by the mayor () for supporting the 2024 election, Rubinho says that the proposal aims to serve the population “affected by the inconvenience of the Momescas festivities”.
Under the proposal, Rubinho stipulates that the city, before releasing public roads for the parades, make an appointment to residents and traders in that particular region. The consultation, according to the councilman, should include the streets adjacent to the block route.
The road can only be used by revelers with the approval of the simple majority –50% plus one of the interviewees.
“The impact of blocks on residents is gigantic. Dirt, mobility and security mainly. Nothing fairer that people impacted have the power to decide on the realization of these events,” says Rubinho.
“The citizen supports the weight of our city with high taxes, he must be respected and have the power of choice for events at the door of his homes,” adds the councilman.
If the project is sanctioned by the Executive, the rule will not be valid in this year. The popular consultation, in this case, should occur within 60 days before the parade.
This year, the street of gathered 767 blocks registered this year, the highest number since 2020, when the city registered the record of 644 stakeholders. There are a forecast of 860 parades between February 22 and March 9.
