Indian donuts are slightly different than our native ones. They are characterized by crunchy and softness inside. They are a great alternative to classic donuts, and sugar sprinkles make the whole sweet, slightly crunchy. Traditionally, they should be prepared over fire, but they can also be successfully frying in deep fat.
Ingredients:
- 260 g of wheat flour,
- 150 g of powdered sugar,
- 50 ml of milk,
- 50 ml of vegetable oil,
- egg,
- 1.5 teaspoons of baking powder,
- a teaspoon of vanilla extract,
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Additionally:
- rapeseed oil for deep frying,
- Sugar to sprinkle.
Method of performance:
Prepare the cake. Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking powder into a bowl. In a second bowl, beat the egg, oil and vanilla extract. Add the egg mixture to the flour and gently mix until the crumble consistency is formed. Add the milk gradually, stirring constantly until the dough begins to form into a homogeneous mass. If it’s too sticky, add a little flour. Knead until a smooth dough is formed. Cover the dough with a damp towel and let stand for 15 minutes.
Divide the dough into two parts. Roll out one into a cake with a diameter of about 25 cm. Cut the wheels with donuts with a hole. You can also cut the wheels with a glass and a hole with your finger. Repeat the activities for the second part of the dough.
Pour the oil into a depth of about 5 cm into a large saucepan. Heat. Put inside a few donuts and fry on both sides to brown. Remove Indian donuts with a slotted spoon and put them on a plate lined with paper towels.
Sprinkle the donuts with sugar while they are still hot. Serve warm or after completely cool.
