News in the regulation
The 2025 edition brings significant changes.
Now there is the end of the advantage of the draw for visitors. If the unique first phase game is equaled, the classification will be decided on penalties. And the field command will be from the club with the worst position in the CBF ranking, prioritizing smaller teams.
Shorter path for 12 clubs
While the 80 teams compete for the first phase in February, another 12 are waiting in the third stage, guaranteed for performance last season. These are the teams: Botafogo, Flamengo, Palmeiras, Corinthians, Sao Paulo, Santos, Inter, Fortaleza, Cruzeiro, CRB, Bahia and Paysandu.
The early stages will take place in the weeks of February 19 and 26, with the winners advancing to face the big names of Brazilian football. The Brazilian Cup thus consolidates itself as one of the main gates of access to continental competitions and millionaire figures.
