A 26- and 23-year-old man and woman were arrested in Porto, suspected of exchanging counterfeit clocks for luxury articles namely cars, was announced by PSP this Friday.
In a statement, the Porto PSP Metropolitan Command indicates that the arrests, made on Wednesday, are the culmination of an investigation that had lasted since July last year, and resulting from the fulfillment of arrest warrants out of flagrant offense issued by judicial authority.
The suspects of qualified scams acted throughout the national territory, with higher incidence in the Lisbon area. The in -course investigation is related to facts that occurred in the Porto, Lisbon, Leiria and O.
The PSP says that the suspects worked in a communion of efforts, according to a previously outlined plan consisting of the ad, on digital platforms to buy and sell articles, luxury brand clocks (Rolex), but the announced watches were counterfeit And the purpose of the suspects aimed to change these for original luxury branded watches or for automobiles.
“At the time of the business, the suspects cunningly made the victims believe that the article presented to them was original, eventually realizing the agreed business and exchanging the articles in question,” describes the PSP.
The suspects, who “always attributed a value higher than the counterfeit article they were offering and sought clocks or cars of value lower than that article, also benefited from a certain monetary amount as compensation for the alleged heritage difference”, continues .
Subsequently, the original watches or purchased vehicles were sold, “thus obtaining large financial proceeds.”
During the investigation, three original watches were recovered that had been obtained on the scores, with full amount around 30 thousand euros, as well as seven counterfeit watches, “in all similar to the originals, which led the victims to believe in the veracity of the business ”.
Four “considerable commercial value” vehicles were also seized, namely BMW X5, BMW 318 classic, Mercedes SL500, Land Rover, and money.
The profits of the investigation will have surrendered to the suspects an approximate value of 100,000 euros.
It adds that one of the suspects had already been identified in similar situations.
The detainees were present at the Porto Criminal Instruction Court, with the man in pre -trial detention and the woman subject to daily presentations.
