The Algarve, known for its beaches and the mild climate, is preparing to receive another edition of the Walking Festival. The event, which runs between February 7 and 9, aims to promote the natural and cultural heritage of the region, through pedestrian paths organized in four locations: Lagos, Loulé, Monchique and Alcoutim.
25 routes for different levels and ages
With a total of over 25 walks, the festival offers options for all levels of experience. Participants can choose from affordable routes and thematic tours or challenge themselves on more demanding walks, such as a “very difficult” route, about 16 kilometers.
In addition to walking, the initiative includes lectures and outdoor activities, providing deeper contact with the region’s biodiversity.
Preservation of heritage through pedestrianism
The event also plays an important role in the recovery and maintenance of rails that, over the last decades, have been abandoned. Through collaboration with local associations, it is intended to preserve these traditional routes, promoting sustainable tourism and encouraging the practice of outdoor sports.
This year’s edition comes integrated into the Annual Program of Algarve Pedestriandism Events, consolidating the region as a reference destination for nature and walking lovers.
Limited registration
Festival activities have limited places and some walks are already sold out. Interested parties can check the options still available and register through the event official.
