Regular emptying of the waste bin is not always enough to eliminate the problem. It turns out that many Slovaks make the same mistake that leads to a persistent unpleasant aroma. Solution? A simple citrus trick that can change your daily life.

Although most of us take care of regular waste disposal, The problem of odor is particularly the case with those who separate bio -waste.

  • Especially in the warm months, food residues are spoiled, attracting insects and also issuing an unpleasant aroma.
  • Experts emphasize that the frequency of waste carrying must be adapted to the annual period. In winter, it is enough to do it every 3-4 days. In summer, however, it may be necessary to spill the waste bin every 1-2 days.

However, the waste itself is not enough.

  • The basket must also be thoroughly washed after each emptying. And then be sure to dry it.
  • To do this, a plain dishwashing agent is sufficient with water. Or use a solution of water and vinegar in a 1: 1 ratio.
  • It is also important not to allow the basket to be overcrowded. This then worsens the problem.

One of the most effective households against unpleasant odor is the use of citrus skin. Oranges, lemons, grapefruit or pomelo. All these fruits can become your ally even when maintaining freshness in the kitchen.

  • All you have to do is spread the skins on the bottom of the garbage bin after eating the fruit. For extra efficiency, you can also add a little baking soda.

However, it is important to replace them every 2-3 days. If they stay in the basket for too long, they can then start issuing an unpleasant odor.
