Representatives of Sindimotosp (State Motorcycle Union) went to the Mayor of, Ricardo Teixeira (União Brasil) on Thursday (6), present a draft for regulation
The mayor (MDB) is contrary to the transport of passengers by motorcycles in the city.
Sindmotosp sees the activity as an opportunity and hits the key that the service is regulated by a federal law of 2009 – in São Paulo, it was vetoed thanks to a Decree 2023.
In the draft, the union suggests that, to regulate the activity, intermediation companies, such as AEA 99, indemnify motorcyclists and passengers in R $ 41,000 in cases of disability or death.
For the driver, it will be mandatory to be approved in a specialized course, use safety equipment and have no criminal record.
“The way the service is, it cannot be offered in the current condition. Companies have no responsibility, disobey laws and place workers and passengers in very serious danger,” says Gilberto Almeida dos Santos, Sindimotosp.
The suggestions will be sent to the councilors. The House will even hold a public hearing to discuss the regulation of the service.
Teixeira says it is not contrary to the activity, however, makes criticism of application companies.
“You can’t turn a key overnight and start this activity, without studies, without training of motorcyclists,” says the mayor. “We can’t be irresponsible, because we already have a very high number of motorcyclists deaths in traffic today.”
