Almost half of the dogs sleep with their owners in their bed. There are long discussions about whether it is good or wrong and we find arguments for and against. But where should the dog sleep according to experts?
In the question of whether we invite a dog to our own bed or not, many input moments play a role, but also the consequences that we can later face. We will now not deal with hygiene, which is one of the main arguments of opponents of sleeping with an animal, but let us focus on health and corresponding conditions for the animal.

Do not separate a frightened animal
At the beginning it is good to remind you that some dogs, especially in puppy age, are very difficult to bear the separation from their breeder – that is, basically expulsion from the “pack”. Such animals make no sense to bother in a separate room and their presence in the bedroom will bring peace to both sides – the animal and its breeders. However, experts advise in such a case to buy a bed that corresponds to the size and needs of the dog.
Healthy rest
The bed can be either open or it is also possible to use a covered box, whether it is explicitly an inner shed as we imagine it, or a mobile cage or a crate where the dog will feel safe. Whether we choose any of these variants, it is necessary to realize that the animal should have quality body support, which will not unnecessarily burden its joints and give it good conditions for rest.
According to the size of the dog
So what should the bed look like for your four -legged friend? First of all, it should be large enough, that is, the dog must stretch without problems. It is better to choose a material that can be washed, or at least a bed with a removable pillow or a removable cover for easier maintenance of the bed clean.
Straight or fenced?
Choosing a bed design can be a bit of a lottery. It is not impossible that you will not hit the first time. Some dogs need support and sense of security with raised edges, others suit the open space of a straight bed. If your dog does not play too much in the new bed, try to wait a few days, it is likely that it will get used to it. You can also make his new home more pleasant by moving his favorite toys into him and rewarding him with a treat for his departure. But it is also largely necessary to consistency and duration on your decision. If you take the dog on the first day to bed, because he does not like in the bed, there is probably no help.
It is a health
Who would see that the duration of dog sleeping in the bed is suffering from the suffering of the animal, should realize that it is his health, and indeed the health of the breeder. Both need to sleep well and sleep at rest, which in two on one bed usually does not quite quite well, especially when a larger dog gets used to sleeping a person at his feet, or even worse – at the head.
Do you strengthen relationships with a dog?
But not to be so strict, small breeds of dogs will probably continue to share one bed with their owners and hard to do anything about it. The truth is that such behavior strengthens the relationship between the animal and its human pack and gives even more timid little friends a sense of security. So it is up to us how we decide. The arguments are on the table, the point is that we will attach more importance.
