BC President stated that interested countries would have to join the “minimum of common rules”
The president of (Central Bank), Gabriel Galipolo, said on Thursday (6.FEV.2025) that PIX has the potential to integrate international payment systems. He stated that the challenge is to harmonize the different rules of each nation on taxation and combat money laundering and terrorism.
The speech was made during participation in the (international compensation bank), held in Mexico City.
“To integrate the international payment system, we have to establish equitable competition conditions, with the minimum of common rules”defended. According to him, all countries who want to join the international payment method will have to accept the rules signed.
Galipolo stated that Pix helped improve competition in payment models in Brazil. Also that it has supplied the demand to have a quick, cheap, easy and safe transaction.
“Pix has the potential to integrate international payment systems. Today, technology is no longer an obstacle to this connection. Each country can have its own payment system and technology can connect different systems in different ways ”stated Galipole.
Former BC president Roberto Campos Neto in February 2023 that Brazil was negotiating the International Pix project with 4 other Latin American countries: Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Uruguay.
