The municipality of Portimão signed, on Wednesday, protocols of transfer of competences and means with the five groups of schools in the county, in a global investment of 4,026,808.20 €.
This initiative aims to “ensure better operating conditions for educational establishments, covering essential areas such as non -teaching staff, social support, infrastructure maintenance and the acquisition of pedagogical equipment”.
The groupings of benefited schools are those of the Beneciduous, Eng. The protocol provides for the financing of free meals for preschool students to secondary education, milk supply and school supplies for the youngest, as well as support for school transportation circuits and study visits.
It is also foreseen a reinforcement of the conservation and maintenance of school buildings that need urgent interventions.
In addition to supporting the operation of schools, a specific protocol was also signed for the implementation of the National Arts Plan (PNA)/School Cultural Plan in the school year 2024/2025. In this context, the Municipality will provide a financing of € 55,000 to support cultural and educational initiatives, covering various artistic aspects promoted by school groupings.
The president of, Álvaro Bila, underlined the strong relationship of proximity to school groupings, ensuring that all needs were taken into account. “The relationship with school groupings has been a real partnership. This year we made an effort to contemplate all the needs that were manifested by the school boards for this school year. It was nothing out! We will always be available to respond to your requests and want to visit the various schools in the municipality, ”said the mayor.
In turn, the directions of the schools thanked the confidence deposited and the autonomy granted to the management bodies, noting that this model allows “more supreme decisions and closer to the needs of the educational community”.
With these measures, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to the “school community, contributing to a more inclusive and qualified educational environment”.
