The Bench of the House, party of the new president of the House, (PB), and the governor of, rejected the possibility of forming a party federation with OEO.
The theme was discussed at a meeting on Tuesday (4). The final decision will be up to the party’s national executive, but this decision of the bench makes it virtually impossible to realize this alliance. There is a forecast of a group meeting until next week.
According to members of Republicans, the president of the subtitle, Marcos Pereira (SP), will hardly position himself contrary to the deputies.
According to people who were at the meeting, Pereira stated that, before any official announcement, he will deal with the party’s decision with the presidents of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda, and the PP ,.
Since last year, the summits of these three parties have been talking to try to seal the deal. If official, this federation would have the largest bench in the House, with 153 deputies, and the Senate, with 17 senators. The intention was to overcome PT and PL in size.
Behind the scenes, parliamentarians of these three parties stated that negotiations would gain more strength from the election of the summit, held on Saturday (1st). The former mayor (PP-AL) was one of the advocates of the agreement.
Interlocutors, Marcos Pereira signaled last year that, if he had kept his name in the dispute for the presidency of the House, the federation would be more likely to prosper, as he would move away from party functions. As he gave up to give way to Motta, the reality would be different.
The Federation would require Republicans, PP and União Brasil to work together in all states for at least four years. According to reports, representatives of the Rio Grande do Norte party signaled to be favorable to the hit, a thesis that was rejected by representatives of all other states.
Republican deputies understood that the federation would be harmful because they had to share space and eventually lose control over municipal and state directories with the arrival of other parliamentarians. The PP would have command in 17 states and the national presidency.
Republicans, however, was strengthened by Motta’s election in the House and expects to receive new affiliations in the 2026 party window. In addition, it should start conversations to merge with the PSDB, which can increase its size.
Despite the opposite position of the bench, members of other parties still bet on the good relationship of Motta and Ciro Nogueira to try to reverse this scenario and formalize the alliance. Already a federation with PP and União Brasil only is seen as unlikely in the face of the internal divisions of União.
Tuesday’s meeting also officialized the name of Gilberto Abramo (MG) to be the new party leader in the House, previously held by Motta.
