United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Thursday that Gaza is currently “not habitable” due to dangers such as unlinked weapons, and that people would have to live elsewhere while the area is rebuilt.
In response to a journalist during a visit to the Dominican Republic, Rubio encouraged other countries to step forward and offer to help rebuild Gaza, but did not say whether Palestinians could return to the area under US President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control and develop the Gaza Strip.
