Russian media reveal those who are the plans of the Russian Armed Forces for Donbass
The Russian Armed Forces announced the conquest of the Ukrainian Defensive Bastion of Torest in the Donbass region, after months of intense fighting, but the Russian press revealed the next goals of the Russian Army, stressing that this is only the beginning of “decisive battle” in the Ukraine War.
According to Russian news agency Ria NoviTi, in an article entitled “The decisive battle is starting. What will start in front with the release of Dzerzhinsk [Toretsk]”The conquest of this small mining town is part of a larger Russian strategy for the conquest of the Donetsk region. The goal of the Russian Army is to reach the main Ukrainian defensive line, consisting of four larger cities, all of them linked by the same highway.
This Ukrainian defensive line, where the Russians now want to arrive, is formed by the cities of Kostynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. These locations near the front act as bases in the Ukrainian rear to feed all the war effort on the front of combat. In this network of cities a huge Ukrainian logistics effort, with thousands of military and war reserves.
But in order to reach the first of these locations, Kostiantynivka, Russia still has several obstacles ahead. Torestk is just over ten kilometers south of Kostynivka, and to get there, you need to win several small locations on the way. In the past, in cities such as Avdiivka, Ukraine has shown inability to strengthen the rear regions, allowing the Russian forces to advance to unprecedented speed to the city of Pokrovsk.
At the same time, Moscow troops are getting some successes from Kostiantynivka, where after more than a year of confrontation and intense bombing have been able to earn some land in the village of Chasiv Yar. If Russia can conquer this locality, it will be able to attack Kostiantynivka by the flanks, like what it has done in almost all of its latest achievements.
“After the release of Dzerzhinsk [Torestsk]the group “Center” paves the way north of DPR, controlled by the enemy. We are talking about the agglomeration of Konstantinovka – Druzhkovka – Kramatorsk – Slavyansk, where rearguard and headquarters infrastructures of Ukraine’s Armed Forces units and headquarters operate in Donbass, ”says Ria Novii.
Even though Toretsk’s occupation does not result in short -term Russian territorial achievements, this city will allow Russia to occupy a higher land that can now be used to complicate Ukrainian logistics with artillery attacks.
For Russia, the conquest of Toretsk also serves to relieve pressure under the city of Horlivka, occupied since 2014, when Russia supported separatist military and sent its military with uniform uniforms to help them. The Ukrainian Armed Forces often used positions around this city to attack concentrations of soldiers and ammunition in this part of the Batalha Front.
