Meeting with Ednaldo Rodrigues reinforces the broadcaster’s interest in becoming one of the main transmitters of Brazilian football
The President of (Brazilian Football Confederation), Ednaldo Rodrigues, was at the headquarters of the Recordin Brasilia, last Thursday (6.FEV), for a meeting with executives of the station, in order to discuss strategies for the future of football in Brazil. The main objective was to strengthen the relationship between the parties, especially with regard to the possible acquisition of the 2026 World Cup transmission rights, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The meeting was intermediated by the commercial area of Recordwhich has conducted negotiations related to the transmission of sporting events. Rodrigues expressed interest in a new option to broadcast the World Cup on open TV, since, since the 2014 World Cup, in Brazil, Globo holds the exclusivity of transmissions throughout the national territory. The Marine family station has already acquired the rights of half of the tournament matches for all platforms, while the 52 of the remaining 104 matches are still in negotiation, being represented by the company, which operates on behalf of.
A Record seeks to guarantee the exhibition rights of the Brazilian National Team games, which will also be broadcast by Globo. However, Edir Macedo’s broadcaster plans to broadcast the other 51 games exclusively, which would make its program more attractive and balance the competition with the Globobesides strengthening its position in negotiations with the advertising market.
