Health plans close 2024 with 52.2 million beneficiaries

Dental plans have totaled 34.4 million users, with significant growth in the last 12 months, according to ANS

DECEMBER SURVEY FROM (National Agency of Supplementary Health) points out that the health plans sector totaled 52,210,290 users in medical assistance plans and 34,466,532 users in exclusively dental plans. The numbers show that each segment has reached a new record of beneficiaries in the sector, according to ANS.

In 1 year, medical-hospital plans showed growth of 862,771 beneficiaries compared to December 2023. In the December 2024 comparison with November of the same year, the growth was 156,217 users. In exclusively dental plans, 2,065,209 beneficiaries were added in the 12 months, and 178,642 in the December 2024 comparison with November of the same year.

According to ANS, in relation to data by state, compared to December 2023, the sector recorded an increase in beneficiaries in medical assistance plans in 24 federative units, being São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Amazonas those who had the highest gain from beneficiaries in absolute numbers. Among the dental, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Paraná were the states with the highest growth in absolute numbers.

As for the age group, it is observed that from 45 years to 49 years was the one that presented the most significant growth in medical care, with 240,336 new beneficiaries, in the last 12 months, followed by the age group from 50 years to 54 years, with 125.734 New beneficiaries in the last 12 months.

The age groups that had the highest growth in dental plans have been 45 years to 49 years, with 248,771 new users in the last 12 months, and 70 years to 74 years, with 193,557 new beneficiaries in the last 12 months.

In analyzing the exclusively dental segment, the agency observed a more significant increase, which may indicate that people are more aware of the importance of oral health.
