Home -made creams and ointments and tinctures are just wonderful. Their production is fun, easy, and you have the whole process under control. Use high -quality ingredients and avoid unnecessary additives and preservatives.
The big advantage of domestic production is that you can easily get a wide range of ingredients you need, and you can grow the herbs to add to the products. You usually need a mug, a centers and a container for a finished product. And now let’s look at some easy recipes.
How to tincture?
Prepare home tincture easily. Basically, you only need a herbal component and quality alcohol. The best is pure plum or vodka, sweetened liqueurs or vermuths do not use.
Comfrey tincture against sore joints
Prepare a dark glass container with a larger filling hole and a dried comfrey. You can use leaves, flowers and roots. If you macerate the dried root, you can crush it in a mortar or chisel before using.
- Fill the glass with dry material and pour in alcohol.
- Place in a dark place with a temperature of about 18 ° C and leave for 4 to 6 weeks.
- Then strain and fill in the final bottles.
- For greater efficiency, you can leave the mixture together, without cementing, and always cast a little before use.
The normal ratio of herbs to alcohol is 1: 5, but nothing happens when you prepare tincture stronger.
Wipe the sore joints at least twice a day.
Herbal ointment
Their production takes only a moment and you can use any herbs. The ointments can be used either as healing or for regular skin care. You will need 250 g of coconut oil and a handful of dried herbs. Other alternatives to coconut oil are ghee (melted butter /, shea butter or medical petrolatum.
You can choose from the following herbs:
- Marigold It is excellent for dry and irritated skin. It also helps to soak and heal minor injuries.
- Lavender It helps to calm the psyche in anxiety and increased stress. It releases cramps and soles pain.
- Chamomile It is excellent for sensitive skin, so it is suitable for children and people suffering from eczema or dermatitis. It has cleaning effects on the skin and helps prevent acne formation.
- Sage It promotes blood circulation in the skin, heal the skin, promotes healing and downloads pores. It takes care of problematic skin and has great effects on acne.
- Thyme It is valued for its strong antiseptic effects. Thyme ointment cleans and tightens pores. In addition, it also hydrates great.
The procedure
- Heat the oil or other fat in a water bath.
- Pour dried herbs and heat.
- Hold just below the boiling point for one hour.
- Then allow the mixture to cool, it is best to let it stand overnight. Heat the next day in a water bath until the fat dissolves, and filter the mixture over a very fine cente or canvas and fill it into dark glass glasses.
What else can be added to the ointment?
beeswax – If you add it, the ointment will not melt at room temperature so quickly and get a slightly wax texture. Add 1 to 2 teaspoons.
essential oils – bet on the fragrance oilnmes in 100 % quality and add them to the end. Never heat them – stir them until lukewarm ointment or cream.
Vitamin e – is a nature preservative that you can easily buy, the IS by the dosing pipette. A few drops are sufficient.
Don’t have dried herbs on hand? Natural cosmetics can be made by IS using their extracts – essential oils.
Cracked hand cream
You will need:
1/4 cup of shea butter
1/8 cup of sweet almond oil
1 tablespoon of beeswax
10 drops of myrrh essential oil
10 drops of essential oil made of cedar wood
Procedure::
- Dissolve shea butter, beeswax and almond oil together in a water bath
- Stir the mixture while dissolving, and remove it from the plate as soon as everything is melted and allowed to cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Finally, stir in essential oils and pour the liquid mixture into a closable small glass container. Let it reinforce (usually it takes several hours).
Apply this fragrant and rich cream on dry hands as often as needed – especially after a long work outdoors in the garden or after washing dishes.
