At stake is an investigation – also proof of the facts – which has raised suspicions that Hernani could benefit from the changes to the Soil Law Approved, however, by the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion, of which the Secretary of State himself was a part.
This Tuesday, Hernani Dias went to Parliament to clarify his intentions with the construction of two companies. In hearing, the former secretary of state evoked the times when he was mayor of Bragança to address another case that also puts it under suspicion: the controversial works of the industrial zone.
There are several doubts about the work and the accounts and the case is being investigated by the European Attorney’s Office, after a complaint made to the Public Prosecution Service Portuguese in October 2024.
“I am calm about what happened. I repeat: this narrative that was created through a social communication body, through some misinformation that was creating, led to some suspicions in the meantime, ”he said.
There are suspicions that Hernani Dias, when he was a mayor of, received counterparts to benefit the construction company Huila-Brothers Neves – which won, in a public tender, the expansion works of the city’s industrial zone.
Suspicions of favoritism are in the Apartment in Paranhos (Porto), where Hernâni Dias’s son lived for five years and whose owner is one of the company’s partner.
Hernani Dias explained, in parliamentary hearing, that this was a shared apartment and that all the young people who lived there paid the same income and always made payments for bank transfer.
Strange businesses in another apartment
