New York-The US state of New York closes poultry markets with living animals to contain the rampant bird flu. In New York City and in the neighboring districts of the West Chest, Suffolk and Nassau, a total of about 80 markets are not allowed to open for a week after the H5N1 virus has been demonstrated several times. The bird flu H5N1 is currently widespread for wild birds all over the world. In the United States, the virus led to outbreaks in poultry and milk companies.
