SP opens Environmental Agency focused on housing

New state agency intends to streamline licensing and optimize housing project analysis

The (Environmental Company of the State of São Paulo) announced on Friday (07.FEV.2025) the creation of its 48th Environmental Agency, focused exclusively on projects of (analysis and approval of housing projects). The new unit intends to modernize and expedite environmental licensing for housing projects.

The decision to create an agency aimed at Graprohab was taken in late 2024, with the objective of improving efficiency and transparency in the analysis of land parceling projects. CEtesB is currently responsible for analyzing about 20,000 license requests per year, of which approximately 1,800 are related to Graprohab.

Jadna Beltrame, manager of the new agency, said the Graprohab licensed by 2024 577 projects, covering more than 74 million m² across the state and preserving about 14 million m² of green areas such as environmental compensation.

“The creation of an agency dedicated to housing projects is a crucial step in ensuring that licensing processes are more agile and transparent”he said. “Our goal is to provide a high quality service that meets the needs of our customers and contributes to the sustainable development of the State of São Paulo.”

The new agency benefits from technological tools recently introduced by CETESB, such as digital and licensing forms. According to the company, digital platforms are part of a greater effort to make the licensing process more accessible and efficient.
