Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and French far -right politician Marine Le Pen were the main speakers of the summit organized by the Spanish far right VOX on Saturday. TASR reports on the basis of AFP report.
“We were renegading yesterday. Today we are a mainstream… We are the future, ”Orbán said during the summit. Orbán and Le Pen appreciated the “tornado” that was unleashed by US President Donald Trump and described it as a journey that the EU should go. In a joint statement, the participants described the Union as “climatic fanaticism, illegal migration and exaggerated regulation”.
“We are witnessing the actual global point of the turning point. Hurricane Trump is rolling the United States. The European Union is particularly shocking, ”said Le Pen.
“President Trump is a brother in a weapon for us,” Wilders said, calling on the “Reconquist” of Europe. This term is a series of wars, which were led by the Spanish Catholic rulers on the Pyrenean Peninsula against the Muslim kingdoms from the eighth to the 15th century.
Participants of the summit chose “Make Europe Great Again”, which refers to Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again”.
Patriots for Europe were founded at the end of June 2024 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán (Fidesz), former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (YES) and former Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl (FPÖ). The political group includes almost all former members of the Fraction Identity and Democracy, which existed between 2019 and 2024 and former members of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR). It now has 86 deputies from 12 Member States in the European Parliament.
