French prosecutors opened an investigation against Elon Musk’s social networking platform X because of a supposed bias of his algorithm, Radio Franceinfo said on Friday, citing an official statement.
Investigation news comes days before a major meeting on artificial intelligence in Paris, who is expected to receive global leaders such as United States Vice President Jd Vance and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as Alphabet executives and from Microsoft.
The Paris Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a request for comments from Reuters on the theme. Nor the X, previously known as Twitter, provided an answer.
The investigation emphasizes the growing global concern about the power of X, a name given to Twitter by billionaire Musk after buying the network.
Musk has used X to support right -wing parties and causes in countries such as Germany and the United Kingdom, bringing fears about external interference in these nations politics.
The French investigation was opened after the centrist parliamentarian Eric Bothorel said in the X himself that he had communicated to the Paris Public Prosecutor’s Cyber Crimes Unit, his concerns that the X was using biased algorithms, Franceinfo said.

X algorithms “probably distort the operation of an automated data processing system. Prosecutors and specialized assistants of the cyber crime unit are analyzing and performing initial technical checks, ”Paris Public Attorney to Franceinfo told.
“I sent a letter to the J3 Attorney’s Office on this subject on January 12,” said Bothorel on X.
The social network was blocked for more than a month in Brazil last year by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) as an unfolding of not complying with determination of having a legal representative in the country, in the face of successive non -compliances for court order courts and Fake News disseminating pages.
