7.6 magnitude earthquake reaches the region of the Caribbean

The shake took place 10 kilometers deep, with epicenter 209 kilometers from George Town, in the Caimão islands.

An earthquake of magnitude 7.6 took place tonight in the Caribbean Sea, according to the (USGS, on the original acronym), bringing tsunami alert to countries in the region.

The shake was 209 kilometers southwest of George Town, in the caiman islands, at 23:23 (time of Lisbon), 10 kilometers deep.

According to the USGS, it was significantly in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, among countries such as Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Honduras and Belize.

The same source states that there is no expected to be a tsunami on the Atlantic coast of the United States or the Gulf of Mexico.

Cuba and Caimão islands are at the threat of Tsunami. Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands are at alert level.
