The shake was 209 kilometers southwest of George Town, in the caiman islands, at 23:23 (time of Lisbon), 10 kilometers deep.
According to the USGS, it was significantly in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, among countries such as Cuba, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Honduras and Belize.
The same source states that there is no expected to be a tsunami on the Atlantic coast of the United States or the Gulf of Mexico.
Cuba and Caimão islands are at the threat of Tsunami. Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands are at alert level.
