Chancellor’s duel: Olaf Scholz and Friedrich Merz face each other on TV for the first time

Two weeks before the federal election in Germany, the social democratic Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and opposition leader, Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz from the Christian Democrats, meet in their first of two planned TV duels. For 90 minutes, the two opponents will be interviewed by the talk show professionals Maybrit Illner and Sandra Maischberger on Sunday from 8:15 p.m. at the public service broadcasters ARD and ZDF.
