A federal judge blocked, early on Saturday (8), the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), commanded by accessing the Treasury Department, which contains sensitive personal data, such as social insurance numbers and bank accounts of millions of Americans.
District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued the preliminary injunction after 19 Democratic attorneys processed US President Donald Trump. The case, filed with the Federal Court in New York, claims that the Trump administration allowed the musk team to access the central payment system of the Treasury Department in violation of federal law.
Engelmayer also said that anyone prohibited from having access to sensitive information since January 20 should immediately destroy all copies of material downloaded from the Treasury Department systems. He marked an audience for February 14.
Doge’s access to the Treasury records, as well as his inspection of various government agencies, lit widespread concern among critics of the growing power of Musk.
