The Association of Professionals and Real Estate Mediation Companies of Portugal (APEMIP) considers that Portugal definitely entered the radar of foreign citizens and that many will continue to choose the country to live even without special regimes that benefit them.

According to Apemip estimates in 2024, 150,000 homes will have been sold in a total of 30 billion euros, above 2023, and provides that this year transactions will increase.

Of the total transactions, Apemip says that 6% were made by foreigners and of those more than half are not European. The weight of foreigners in the total amount is higher, above 10%.

At a meeting with journalists in Lisbon, the vice president of, Patrícia Barão, said that Portugal definitely entered the radar of foreign citizens-namely from countries such as the United States or Brazil, as they are attracted to quality of life, health services, education and Safety – and that will be kept.
