Special events

For today, the City Hall of Recife has prepared a special program. Among the celebrations is a major procession through the city center at 16h.

The event will be attended by one hundred passists, two orchestras and a parade to honor Frevo.

“Frevo is a form of expression that promotes us immense belonging, which creates and generates a process of revitalization and resistance, including our own citizenship. It is a form of festive expression. It is from Carnival, but it is also out of the carnival. It is in the daily lives of all of us and has this perspective even of the resistance of existing. It emerges as a life force of the moving city and in its development process in the late nineteenth century, and has even been resisting and existing like playing, how to express themselves, as the clash, even in the daily lives of our Lives, ”said Carmem Lélis, researcher and technical advisor to cultural policy of the Recife Secretariat of Culture.
