Salzburg was once considered the bicycle capital of Austria. However, according to traffic experts, the city on the Salzach played this attribution. In recent years, too little has been done for the expansion of the bike paths and for better framework conditions. For years, the ÖVP-led city broke out urgently upcoming measures. That should change now. The red-red-green government comes into the corridor and has doubled the bicycle traffic budget right at the beginning of its legislative period. Transport and planning councilor Anna Schiester from the Green Citizens’ List has big plans to improve the cycling infrastructure in the Mozart city. The first steps have already been taken.
