An Israeli officer said on Sunday (9) that the forces of began to withdraw from a strategic corridor in as part of a ceasefire agreement with the that is advancing. Israel agreed, as part of the truce, to remove its forces from the Netzarim corridor, a strip of land that divides the north of Gaza do Sul. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to discuss the movement of troops with the media.

At the beginning of the ceasefire, Israel began to allow Palestinians to cross Netzarim to return to their homes in the north devastated by the war, and the withdrawal of the forces from the area will fulfill another commitment of the agreement. It was unclear how many Israel troops withdrew on Sunday. The 42 -day truce has passed half, and the parties should negotiate an extension that would lead to the release of more Israeli hostages maintained by Hamas. However, the agreement is fragile and the extension is not guaranteed.

The parties must start negotiations about the second phase of the truce, but there seems to be little progress. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was sending a delegation to Qatar, a key mediator in the negotiations between the parties, but the mission included low-ranking authorities, raising speculation that he will not lead to the extent of the truce. Netanyahu is expected to call a meeting with key ministers of the cabinet this week to discuss the second phase of the agreement, but there is no set date yet.
