The leaders of the far-right parties in the third largest electoral bloc of the European Parliament, Patriots in Europe, praised the return of US President Donald Trump to power in a summit in Madrid on Saturday, held under the motto “To become The big Europe again. ”

The event was attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and Italian deputy deputy Matteo Salvini. Also present were the leaders of the French Party National Meeting (RN), Marine Le Pen, and Dutch party PVV, Geert Wilders.

“Tornado Trump changed the world in just a few weeks … Yesterday we were heretics, today we are the dominant trend,” Orbán said to about two thousand supporters, mostly shaking Spain flags.

All who spoke protested against immigration and most appealed to a new “reconquest”, a reference to the medieval reconquest of parts of the Iberian Peninsula, which were controlled by Muslims, by Christian kingdoms.

Earlier, the former Estonia Finance Minister Martin Helme began the event after a video message from Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

His speech criticizing what he called “leftists” was interrupted by a topless activist of the female female group that shouted “not one step back against fascism” in Spanish and was then expelled.

Patriots in Europe was formed after the European elections of May 2024 and consists of 86 parliamentarians from 14 countries, representing a total of 19 million votes. Madrid was chosen as the headquarters of the first official meeting for the Patriotic President, Santiago Abascal, who leads the Spanish party Vox, could welcome everyone.

Vox has gained ground in several surveys in recent months. According to the Center for Sociological Studies (CIS), it has the strongest support among young people, military and police.

Despite the declared objective of patriots to unify conservative nationalists in Europe, some of the most influential EU parties in this field-such as the brothers of Italy, the alternative to Germany and the Polish Law and Justice, refused to join.
