The South African Foreign Ministry criticized the executive order signed by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, to cut financial assistance to the South African country.

The Chancellery called the order of “great concern” and said that “(lacked) of factual accuracy and fails to recognize the deep and painful history of colonialism and apartheid in South Africa”, adding that the measure seemed “to be a disinformation campaign and advertising with the objective of misrepresenting our great nation. ”

“It is ironic that the executive order provides for refugee status in the US for a group in South Africa that continues among the most economically privileged, while vulnerable people in the US from other parts of the world are being deported and have denied asylum, Despite the real difficulties, ”added the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement on Saturday (8).

O on Friday (7) with the objective of freezing South Africa assistance due to a law that allows the government to confiscate ethnic minority lands without compensation, as well as the country’s position against Israel and the war in Gaza.

Trump stated in the decree that the United States would no longer support South Africa with foreign help if such policies – that he claims to highlight a “shocking disrespect for his citizens” and equals “human rights violations” – to continue, ordering agencies from the US would stop providing any help to South Africa unless it was considered necessary.

The former South African authorities were “confiscating land” and said their country was eager to work with the Trump administration “about our agrarian reform policy.”

Trump’s Order also guides the United States to help Africaners-an ethnic group descended from European settlers-if they run away from South Africa due to discrimination, including helping them reinstall refugee programs.
