Small plane crash in the west of São Paulo left 7 injured; engine failure may have caused the accident
One Air left two people killed and 7 injured on Friday (7.Fev.2025), on Marquês de São Vicente Avenue, Barra Funda, west of São Paulo.
So far, Brazil already 10 Air Accident Deaths Only in 2025. In the previous year, the country had the largest number of aviation deaths in the last 10 years, with 153 victims in 175 accidents, according to data from the (Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention System).
WHAT HAPPENED?
A small plane collided with a bus in motion on Avenida Marquês de São Vicente. The Fire Department, triggered at 7:31, sent 5 vehicles to the site.
Who was on the plane?
On board were the pilot Gustavo Medeiros and the lawyer . Both died.
Carpena was a partner of the office and a teacher at (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul). The lawyer left 3 children: two girls and 1 boy.
What model of the plane crashed?
The aircraft was a King Air F90, of PS-FEM registration, with capacity for 8 passengers. The plane took off from Campo de Mars Airport at 7:15 am and was destined for Porto Alegre (RS).
According to the registration of (National Civil Aviation Agency), the aircraft was not allowed to perform air taxi.
In December 2024, Márcio Carpenna acquired a King Air F90 plane through the company, of which he was a partner. The company, founded in 2009, in Porto Alegre, operates in the business management consulting sector.

What did the witnesses report?
Witnesses described the scene of the accident as a “scary moment“, one “fireball“, one “loud noise“, one “surreal explosionAnd a “movie scene”.
“When I stopped at the headlight, the aircraft was losing altitude. The pilot tried to land, many cars diverted, fortunately. But the plane hit the back of the bus and ended up exploding. The impact was very big, very scary”, Reported the personal trainer Adriano Rolim, in an interview with TV Globo.
Another witness, Carlos Umbelino, told the CNN Brazil who had just parked the car to work when he witnessed the aircraft crash. “It was scary. Lots of smoke, a lot of fire. A very strong explosion. What may have caused the fall?
Expert Márcio Patrício de Oliveira, from the of the accident. “Possibly, the aircraft lost effectiveness in its motor group, which is why it did not achieve the desired altitude and, therefore, there was loss of support”.
According to witnesses, a closed traffic light may have avoided even greater tragedy, because if it were open, more vehicles would have been hit.
Pilot asked for immediate return
In an audio, another pilot awaiting permission for takeoff at Campo de Mars Airport, on Friday (7.FEV), that the commander of the crashed plane asked “immediate return”But did not declare emergency. The information was released by g1.
“Or face (Pilot of the crashed plane) took off in front of me. I’m at the point of waiting waiting. It’s been about 15 or 20 minutes that I’m stopped here because the tower had waiting. INVESTIGATION
A (Brazilian Air Force) reported that it called investigators from (4th Regional Service for Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention), linked to (Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center), to investigate the causes of the accident.
The aircraft was equipped with a Pratt & Whitney engine PT-6 model and a Hartzell HC-B4TN-3A Hartzell propeller. According to expert Márcio Patrício de Oliveira of Sewell Criminalistics, the investigation will follow 3 phases:
- Collection of information about the aircraft, the pilots and the flight plan;
- data analysis;
- preparation of reports (preliminary, intermediate and final).
