Armed school violence is very rare in Sweden, but in recent years there have been several incidents – which have resulted in injured or killed – with other weapons, such as knives or axes.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson asked Swedish citizens to unite on Sunday after the press reported that several foreign citizens were among the victims.

“When it comes to this, there is only one Sweden. There are not us and them. There are no young people and old. There are no natives and foreigners. There are no born in the countryside and in the city. There is no right and left, ”said the prime minister.

“We will not speculate or draw hasty conclusions,” he said, adding that “hatred is not defeated with more hatred.”
