The organizers of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on Monday confirmed that it is expected to participate in the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greeny, as well as the US Vice President JD Vance, the US Minister of Foreign Affairs Marc Rubio and the US Ambassador for Russia’s war against Ukraine Kellogg. According to AFP, the chairman of MSC Christoph Heusgen informed about this at a press conference in Berlin, TASR writes.

Personal participation of Greeny will enable interviews with Kiev’s key allies, Heusgen said. He expressed the hope that the conference in Munich will contribute to the achievement of progress in terms of peace in Ukraine. He assumed that these negotiations would be held in the MSC lobbies.

According to Heusgen, it is now open whether the peace plan for Ukraine will be announced at the conference. Heusgen, however, is sure that “the conference (in Munich) will be used to see the contours of such a plan.” The guarantee for this optimism is the presence of emission Kellogg.

The conference in Munich will take place shortly before the third anniversary of the war, which was unleashed by Russia against Ukraine on 24 February 2022, and will probably be one of the first opportunities when representatives of the new US administration will be able to talk directly to Ukraine’s representatives.

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly promised a quick end of the war in Ukraine during his campaign, but only a few said about how he wants to do it.

Russian leaders will not officially be present at the conference

Trump’s Vice President Vance is expected to perform in Munich with a speech on Friday, Heusgen explained. He added that there will be no official representatives of the Russian government at the conference. According to Heusgen, “no one showed a wish” to come. But the organizers “invited Russians from NGOs, opposition, Russia and exile”.

The Munich Security Conference is one of the most prestigious meetings of its kind. It is attended by politicians, representatives of armies, economy and non -profit organizations. It focuses on current issues of international relations and security policy. It is always held in February. The first conference was in 1963.
