Infraero, a state -based state -owned by Republicans, spent R $ 420,000 on sponsorships in the city of Patos (PB), the electoral stronghold of the new mayor, one of the party’s main staff.
The contracts for the festivities of São João and for projects to incentive Badminton and futsal in the city of just over 100,000 inhabitants represent more than a quarter of all state sponsorships signed in the country in management (PT), despite Infraero Do not manage any airport in Paraíba.
Infraero, which had a deficit of R $ 540 million in 2024, is linked to the Ministry of Ports and Airports, led since September 2023 by the federal deputy (Republicans-PE).
All sponsorship contracts to Patos were signed after Costa Filho’s entry, and none of them underwent a public team.
The new mayor declined to comment on the money. The Ministry of Ports and Airports said the state -owned company defines its own sponsorship policy.
Infraero has denied political interference and said it is involved in negotiations to manage the city’s airport, but has not submitted documents about these negotiations.
The sponsorship for São João da Cidade Paraibana, in the amount of R $ 190 thousand, was authorized on June 17, 2024, two days before the beginning of the event, which had as its main attractions the singers Gusttavo Lima, Bell Marques and Leonardo.
The accountability presented by the organizers states that Infraero was entitled to an exclusive cabin and 80 bracelets and tickets. The state -owned company did not tell those who distributed them.
On his social networks, Motta posted several videos and photos of the event alongside politicians and celebrities, including Gusttavo Lima.
The contract has as its proponent Fabio de Almeida Coelho, known as Fabio Cebolinha. He is an event promoter in the Northeast and also represents the stylized singer Luan, who performed in Brasilia at the celebration party of the election of the mayor.
In addition to the cabin and tickets, Infraero had the brand cited in the disclosure material and the voice of São João de Patos.
Sponsorship contracts to stimulate Badminton and futsal were signed with the Banco do Brasil Athletic Association of the city, in December 2023, both based on the Sports Incentive Law.
For Badminton, Infraero spent $ 120,000. For futsal, R $ 111 thousand.
Patos is not an electoral stronghold of Motta, but from several politicians in his family. The father, Nabor Wanderley Filho, is the current mayor. Olivia Motta, Hugo’s sister, is pointed out as the successor of former mayor and current state deputy Francisca Motta, grandmother of both. All are from.
The city is the main of the Paraíba backlands and has no relevant industry or agriculture, but is a regional center of commerce and services.
The local airport (Brigadeiro Firmino Ayres) is administered by the municipality. He has received commercial flights and has been expanded since last year.
Motta has already made several demonstrations on his social networks defending the works and pointing out his performance and that of Minister Costa Filho for the allocation of funds.
“In the city of Patos, the works of the new airport are advanced. Congratulations to the minister @silviocostafilho, the governor @joaaozevedolins [João Azevêdo, do PSB] and the mayor of Patos @naborwanderley for the work partnership. I follow in Brasilia with the increasingly commitment to defend the municipalities of Paraíba! “Wrote Motta in their networks in September.
According to the government of Paraíba, the total amount of the work is but R $ 36 million, being R $ 22 million from the federal government and R $ 13.8 million from the state government.
Infraero president Rogério Barzellay was appointed in February 2023, when the Ministry of Ports and Airports was led by Márcio França (PSB).
Earlier, Barzellay had already occupied the agency’s board of operations, but, according to government members, received Motta’s political backing to chair the company – as well as the current commercial director, Tiago Chagas Faierstein.
Currently nominated by Lula to command the National Civil Aviation Agency, Faierstein also has the support of Minister Costa Filho.
Other side: Infraero says he wants to manage airport; Motta does not manifest
Hugo Motta did not answer the questions asked by Sheet about the sponsorship.
The folder led by Silvio Costa Filho cited investments in the expansion of the regional airport infrastructure in 50 aerodromes in the Legal Amazon and the Northeast, none of them in Paraíba.
Regarding the sponsorship of Patos, he said the decision is linked to the policy established by the state.
Infraero denied political influence, but did not explain the reasons that led ducks to earn 3 of 11 sponsorship. He only stated that there was “a negotiation/prospecting ongoing at the time for Infraero to be the city’s airport administrator,” a deal that would still persist.
The report requested documents about these negotiations, but the state -owned company denied access alleging competition confidentiality.
The company said it had been interested in managing the airport because it was trained to manage relevant terminals such as “ducks and others that may be considered essential for the development of national and regional airport infrastructure”.
Infraero also said that the sponsorships were approved by the procedural governance of the body and the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic.
She also pointed out to have an independent committee “responsible for verifying the compliance of the evaluation and member appointment processes for the councils and the executive board.”
Not responding to who distributed São João tickets, the state -owned company only said that it used criteria normally applied to such actions, aiming to “reinforce the company’s institutional and commercial relationship with its audiences of interest.”
The Banco do Brasil Athletic Association said it had projects via sports incentive law and said it raises funds with various individuals and legal entities.
“We received Infraero contact informing that they were aware of our projects with the Federal Official Gazette. From there, they were making several consultations and resolved questions and decided to donate to our projects.”
A Sheet failed to contact Fabio de Almeida Coelho.
