The Special Secretariat for Legal Affairs of Rio Branco clarified, by official note, the legality of the appointment of Mayor Tião Bocalom’s wife for the position of Chief of Staff. The appointment was published in the State Official Gazette (DOE) this Monday (11).

According to the secretary, the position has status of political agent since 2017, according to Municipal Law No. 2,225 and article 63 of Law No. 1,959/2013. Based on this, the appointment does not hurt Binding Precedent No. 13 of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which deals with nepotism.

The position of Mayor’s Chief of Staff has had the status of the position of Political Agent since 2017 (Law 2,225), according to art. 63 of Law 1.959/2013.
