Paulo Macedo, Executive Chairman of Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD).
The Labor Court of Porto condemns Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) to pay the costs of graduated glasses and correction lenses to workers who need them.
The information was made public by the CGD group’s Business Workers Union (Stec) and follows a judicial action
moved by this, in September last year, after the administration has refused to pay the graduated glasses to the workers.
A judgment of the Court of Justice of the European Union of December 22, 2022, had already supported Stec’s claims. But now, the Labor Court of Porto has reinforced them, forcing CGD to pay glasses and graduated lenses when there are ophthalmological medical examinations that confirm the existence of vision problems.
“This court determined that CGD workers suffering from visual disturbance related to the work done Using display, they have the right to pay their graduated glasses and correction lenses, whenever the proper medical examination of the eyes and sight, or ophthalmological examination so concludes, ”says Stec in.
“In these situations, CGD is required to provide workers with special proper correction devices (Graduated glasses and correction lenses), that allow you to correct these visual disturbances and may be used at the workplace or outside of it, or shall support the costs that workers have with the acquisition of such devices, ”adds Stec.
The Labor Court of Porto considered that “the tasks performed using the display assume such relief – by its preponderance in worker tasksor its importance in the whole of the tasks attached to the worker, or for the eventual harmful consequences of the type of display to the display for the worker – who justified one andSpecial protection of worker health“The same statement points out.
Stec finally regrets that “CGD administration ignores and disregards the most basic norms of safety and health at workdetermined by EU legislation, repeatedly violating the rights of its workers. ”
